Taj Mahal Revisited

It must have been thousand times, Taj Mahal has been written about. It is something which generations have been talking about and centuries have been told. 37 different departments worked together to bring to life this marvelous piece of art which lives to this date.

Ismail Khan came all thw way from Turkey to make the dome, the Gold structure atop the dome was shaped by Lahores Kazim Khan. Dilhiwalah Chiranjilal imparted his craftsmanship to the mosaic motifs. The organisation of the entire Taj Mahal was looked after by Mir Abdul Karim and Murkirat Khan from Shiraz. Thus hundreds of designers and architects were behind the making of this one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

The story of TAJ MAHAL beguns from the time when Emperor Shah Jahan ( the then Prince Khurrum) married second time to a girl selling bangles in the market. This young girl called Arzuman Banu Begam came to be known as Mumtaz Mahal. Married in 1612, she breathed her last in 1631 giving birth to her 14th child. A year later Shahjahan started building the Taj Mahal in her memory.

The Taj Mahal is made in a square form with definite geometric patterns. It has a square pool in the centre from which four subsidary canals flow, further dividing it into four squares. These squares make a symmetry of 16 lawns. The pathways on both the sides are flanked by pines, palms and poplars. It was ensured that a canal and some tanks supplied the fountains with the cool water of Yamuna River.

One of the biggest marvel of Taj Mahal is the Calligraphy. Each word in the Taj correlates itself with the next word in symmetry. There is not a single word which is unequal or disfigured. Though most of the information about the disclosing names involved in making Taj Mahal, the name of Amanat Ali Khan can be found in the inner surface of the dome.

As far as motifs are concerned these have been made by the only Indian involved in making Taj Mahal – Chiranjilal. Geometric forms and floral motifs are predominant in the design of Taj Mahal.

The dome makes the main part of the Taj. To hide the hugeness of the main dome four small domes were places in the corner of the Taj Mahal.

And this marvel which included the international array of experts today stands as the marvel of India. We as Indians are graced to have such a beauty in our country.

Incredible Beaches of India...

Beaches have attracted people for generations. Be it India or any other country, beaches always charm people with their elegance. India too resonates its earth with a number of beaches. In fact the entire coastal range is filled with various beaches, be it small or a big one. But just like any other countries, India too has a choice of the famous ones and the not so famous ones. Some of the very famous ones are Alpazuha Beach, Calangute Beach, Mallampura Beach, Anjuna Beach and so on.

Beginning from South there is the Mamallapuram Beach which also houses the famous Mallampura Temples considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The silent shore does not attract a number of people, and it is this silence which makes people sit here for hours.

A little down from here, is the place called the heaven. Kerala, the Gods own country, has some of the most beautiful beaches around. Like the Alpazuha beach. Alpazuha is not only famous for its beautiful beach but also for its backwaters. Alpazuha beach is also a popular picnic beach.

Then there is the Kovalam Beach which is the internationally acclaimed beach having three adjacent crescents. Ayurvedic massage parlous, yoga centers and water sports facilities are some of the major attractions of this beach.

Apart from these if you are more interested in watching the sunset and the sunrise than the Varkala Beach of Kerala is the best. Just 42 kms from Thiruvanathpuram, the sands of Varkala become one of the religious destinations of South India. Thiruvanathpuram is one of the major cities of South India.

A little below all these are the beaches of Goa. Numerous beaches, all as beautiful as the other one attract people to spend their holidays here. Like the Calangute beach, Candolim Beach, Vagator Beach, Baga Beach, Agonda Beach, Mobor Beach - all of them are unique in their own sense. Out of these the Mobor and Cavelossim Beaches are a bit different ones. Both beaches are relatively isolated and there are few beach sharks here. Mobor beach on the other hand has a number of seagulls coming to the shores. Mobor also has a small fishing village with a small lagoon near the mouth of the river which makes it more adventurous.

And at one of the end of all these stand apart the beaches of Andaman and Nicobar. Out of the 27 beaches only 10 beaches are open for tourists. The best thing about these beaches are they are very clean and have the green and azure blue water in their shores. And the attractions too keep adding on, like snorkeling, boating, dolphin seeking, kayaking and so on...

With the best of the beaches and the best of water entertainment there is no reason why one is not here...
